i hear that taking glucosamine sulfate makes you grow taller…. read this……… its someones’ story!!!!

"I have seen a lot of bs on these sites, these are scams fellas. I was 5’3 and within the last month have gained 1 and ½ inches. My goal is to reach 5’11. I have begun taking glucosamine sulfate and I believe this is what is responsible. I am a 22 NYU med student and this is not for money or any other reason, I just want to spread the word to other short guys and let u know there is hope. Let me explain how. We have all been told that our growth plates close at around 17 or 18, this is not true. The epiphyseal plates, which is what they are called do not close until 25. Even this is not permanent, the plates weaken around the age of 50, this is called osteoporosis. These plates are what cause long bone growth in the bones of the leg. By taking glucosamine, the cartilage cells in these plates are stimulated causing additional growth after puberty. Trust me guys this is all verifiable, I am not a scammer, and do not represent any, I just know how it feels to be called shorty, shrimpy, midget, and all that other negative garbage. Trust me, you can grow as long as those plates are even slightly open. Don’t spend your money on the crap these scammers are selling, stretching devices and manuals, GH supplements or fucking shoes that are supposed to make u grow. These people are taking advantage of those of us who have to face the serious disadvantage of shortness everyday. Most of us don’t have GH deficiency, we are just the children of short parents, but through proper nutrition and supplementation we can grow beyond our genes."

"Look at Asians, my girlfriend is Japanese and is 5’6, her parents who were born in the 50’s are about my height. The only difference is that she was raised here on an American diet. It is not a coincidence that most of us short guys come from areas where the mortality rates were high. (I’m of Italian ancestry myself) In those parts of the world, our ancestors did not get enough nutrition and those kids who were shorter and reached the end of their sexual development earlier since they did not need as much food were usually the ones that survived to reach adulthood and have kids. Now what makes us short, fellas? Sex hormones, (testosterone and estrogen). The earlier you produce sex hormones, means the earlier u can have kids, unfortunately this also means that your growth plates aren’t open very long either, since sex hormones cause the closure of the plates, but as I said they’re not completely closed till around 25, so there is hope. So guys, believe me or not, throw away your money on trash scams, or go with what I’m saying, verifiable medical advice on how to get taller. Be positive and stay healthy though, diabetics should consult their physician before taking glucosamine sulfate. See ya when I hit that 5’11 mark.
Peace."

IMPRESSIVE HUH…… WHAT DO YOU GUYZ THINK!!!

So I have a medical condition that I need to cut out dairy and wheat products.

I can’t have Soy because I am sensitive to soy products and they unbalance my hormons and make bad things happen.

I don’t eat foods with high fructose corn syrup, msg, aspartame or other artificial sweeteners. I don’t eat beef because of the growth hormones. I don’t like pork because it always seems to be dry. I have been guilted out of eating fish because if fishing continues the way it’s been going there will be NO MORE FISH in 40 years.

I dislike most vegetables and I shouldn’t eat raw veggies because I have a spleen qi deficiency.

Other than chicken what can I eat that isn’t filled with sugar, enriched, bleached or processed?

This is WAY too limited of an existence!

i am 5 6 and i am 23 about to turn 24 is it to late to take the hormone??????? iam a guy by the way

im sure i have ghd cuase im 25 turning 26 and i look like im 17 my facial hair finally grew when i turned 23 plus i always feel tired and lazy,i have trouble gaining weight im very slim (5"7 133lbs) and i have a 6 inch penis.so my question is if i take testosterone will that help me at all wit everything?

Ok, Im just wondering about some stuff, and my dads not comfortable with this stuff.
So Im 15. Im a really late bloomer. I hit 5′ around last year. Im now 5′4. I have growth hormone deficiency. I have a lot of pubic hair. I think about the same as a fully grown man. My flacid penis is very small, but growing, and my erect penis is about 4 inches long. I recently, (3months ago) began to ejaculate. I have no armpit hair no facial hair no body hair. How far behind am I in different things. What stage in puberty does armpit hair come in. When will my penis start to grow more?

So I hate to sound like the cliche "i want to get big" kinda guy – but here goes. .

Im 20, measure 6 foot 1, and weigh about 155lbs.

I have been struggling to gain weight for 2 years now, and have never made it an oz. past 158.

I am extremely ripped, and have a body fat percentage too low to be measured by a fat analyzer. Last time I picked up anything it was 7%. I realize anything under 13% is considered unhealthy.

I am a nursing student, so I understand a lot about the production of steroids and other growth hormones. I also understand that placing something in your body generally results in the body no longer producing it as much, for as long as you’re supplementing it.

I think it’s viable for me to say that I have a testosterone deficiency. . and that has nothing to do with my being a nurse. Ha.

I grow VERY little facial hair, and I can’t gain weight. I also don’t seem to be getting any stronger.

What can I expect if I go through a cycle of a legal test supplement?

this is for a musculoskeletal crossword puzzle and if you can help me with any of the answers i would be soo grateful.

Does anyone know of some good vitamins for hair? I’m a college aged girl and my hair is sooo thin. I try to eat healthy and all, but the problem seems to be getting worse instead of better. I’ve tried shampoos for extra volume and all of that…I think I need some way to treat the problem from within! I think it is something caused by vitamin deficiency or hormones. :( I have never dyed or used lots of unnatural treatments on my hair…and have always used conditioner following shampoo. Does anyone know of any vitamins or food I could eat that would help?

Spernalactal is an Rx to prevent the female body from receiving to many male hormones when someone has increased hair growth

I ask this question for my brother because he doesn’t have a Y! account.

So he’s 5′3" and 15. He was 5′2.5" at 12 years old… so he’s basically grown half an inch in 3 years. This obviously frustrates him.

I was 5′9" at his age (we’re full brothers, so we have the same parents), and his doctor said that he’ll prescribe him HGH (Growth hormone) to help him grow at a normal rate.

How much can he expect to grow?
He’s actually been DIAGNOSED with GHD. So it’s not that he’s just a short person.

I just about died! And only about 4 of the 15 or so who answered (some with VERY long, very profound rebuttals!) realized the cretin who wrote it meant ‘Creationism’!

FYI: Cretinism happens to be a "condition of severely stunted physical and mental growth due to untreated congenital deficiency of thyroid hormones (hypothyroidism)". Cretins (in the commonly pejorative use of the word) are idiots! They’re also people who don’t use either dictionaries or spell-checkers. Check it out, you’ll get a kick out of it.
BTW: it is my experience with Yahoo Answers that trying to ‘gain clear knowledge’ has nothing to do with it! Most of what I see is badly-spelled glib banter, or on a rare instance someone looking for someone else to do their homework for them.

This ‘question’ was posted so someone who had actually seen the original article could say what they thought, or those others who hadn’t could at least look it up and pen an informed opinion!

So there!

When I was younger, at High School etc, I was constantly bullied for being the ‘fat kid’. It was due to me having a deficiency in growth hormone. After hormonal injections til I was 18, I was still a little chubby but a bit taller. Now, at 23, I weigh about 56-57 kilos and I’m maybe, 5′7" – perhaps a little bit taller. But I’ve grown obsessed with my weight. I weigh myself every morning to see if there’s been any fluctuation and if I go over 9 stones, I’ll eat less until I’m under again. I have pretty skinny arms and legs, and a little bit of pudge left on my tummy; these are all things I monitor remembering how I got bullied before. And when I look around, there are always these naturally perfectly-shaped lads, and I end up weighing myself again.

My GP says weighing myself so constantly is just my obsessive-compulsive thing.. Im not so sure. Does anyone have any advice to give? Thanks in advance.

I need to know what type of doctor specializes in hormone therapy.
I thought it was an Endocrinologist but I’m being told that they deal with metabolic issues such as diabetes.

Specifically, what type of doctor would test/treat someone for testosterone deficiency or start HGH supplementation?

I have been putting up with nighmares for over 3 years that seem so real its almost a part of my memory,Prior i was put on growth hormone for growth deficiency and took it for over a year, can the growth hormone be blamed for my nightmares and anger problems? My dad went to Iraq when i was 16 so i had to take care of my little brother and mom for 18 months, and I have a bad case of not knowing whether my dreams are real events or not, they feel so real and when i go back to remember them its only bits and pieces. its really starting to take a toll on me and my girlfriend cus of the stress that I put on myself, and the insecurities of not knowing if my memories are dreams or actual events. Please if anyone can give me advice or just talk to me to see what I can personally do to help myself please email me, I hate seeing doctors, ever doctor ive talked to says im a dime short of a buck, and I need constructive help.

I have full-blown rheumatoid arthritis and just had my 17th surgery in 18 years. I also have an under-active thyroid, type 2 diabetes, highBP, depression, irregular heart beat, raynaud’s disease, growth hormone deficiency, high cholesterol and sleep apnea.

Hello.

I have GHD, I was diagnosed with it ….like a few years ago. Before I started my Period, or well, a but after. I know I started the injections late…

Anyways. Since the day I started my period, it has never been stable. Im 19 now, 73 Ibs, and 4′10. I was also very premature born. Id have my period every few months or something…like it has never been on the clock, each month, ect.

Like sometimes, like now, Id have signs of a period. Id have some spotting on my underwear, my breasts/nipples would be sore, id have some cramps…but no blood.

I also dont eat alot, I never been a big eater, and im very thin.

Is this normal for someone with HGD, and skinney?

I read that sometimes It was, just asking…
I still dont have armpit hair, although I have pubic hair and my breasts are small…

I stopped takeing the shots since out insurence, which I stopped like…a few years ago.
****My problem is Menstration, not my weight right now.

All the males on both sides of my family are 5"10 ++

I’m stuck at 5′4 1/2 108 pounds 18 years old and 11 1/2 shoe size.
I haven’t grown taller OR aged since I was 14. I still look like I’m 14. My testes have continued to grow…at the next to last step of development. And I have the "adult" pubic hair. I have a little facial hair but still look like I’m 13-14. Could this be a medical problem? Or can I still grow even though I’ve gone through…almost finished some stages of puberty but completely lack others…Maturing of the face…the 14+ growth spurt…penis growing…(at 4 in erect)…Shoulders widening.

I just look so young, it’s like my body just completely stopped making it.

For the completely oblivious people…I’m not just making this accusation because I’m short, it’s also because I look VERY young.

.

I was sleeping the other night and I woke up and it felt like something was pushing me down onto the bed with a very strong force. I could hear a loud whoosing noise in my ear. It’s really hard to explain. I got really dizzy and everything was spinning. It was hard to breath and my throat got really tight.
I have had asthma for maybe 6 years now (i’m 14) and i also have Growth Hormone Deficiency. I don’t think the Growth Hormone Deficiency has anything to do with it though.
What do you think happened?
Thanks, 10 points to best answer!

i’m almost 15 years old and 160cm you might think it’s good height but the problem my body haven’t grown or changed for 3 years so doctors advised me to make lots of examination on blood structure like magnesium, calcium ,TSH, Free T3 , Free T4 and all were normal
but i made X-ray on my wrist and knee and doctors told me that spaces between bones are almost closed and won’t grow again!!
the only thing wasn’t normal my GH test the result was

Ref . Range
Growth Hormone: 0.2 ng/ml up to 7.0
Comments
Due to low levels and pulsatile secretion of hGH, provocative tests are recommended for
evaluating GH deficiency.

If you get a blood test that is testing for many different things including a karyotype and one for growth hormone deficiency, how long will it be until I get the results? The original is in Ohio and then parts of it need to be sent to California apparently so I need to know when the result and opr diagnosis will be sent back. I can’t stand not knowing. PLease and thank you.
Also, it has been almost two whole weeks.
Scratch that. It has been at least two weeks, almost three.
Well, they said that they would send them to me by mail but I could try calling.

I was wondering if anybody knew if a chiropractor could test for hormone deficiency and roughly how much it would cost for a prescription of somatropin with no insurance? Thanks in advance mates!

These were my lab results i got back about a month ago:
cholesterol: 210
HDL;: 52
LDL: 131

My doctor noted that this could have been caused by my growth hormone deficiency which just showed up on the labs as well. (GH: 0.1).
She put me on Simvastatin 20mg once a night. I’ve been on them for a week.

What do think based on my labs. Should i be on this medication at my age? \
If you need more info please imply so.
thanks
i’m sorry the units used to measure are mg/dLs

if that makes any sense to you :-/
