I need to know what type of doctor specializes in hormone therapy.
I thought it was an Endocrinologist but I’m being told that they deal with metabolic issues such as diabetes.
Specifically, what type of doctor would test/treat someone for testosterone deficiency or start HGH supplementation?
im 15 years old and 5 foot 3.
i’ve been the same size since i was 11 and i’ve only grown about an inch since i was 10 and i know thats not normal.
i’m going to a pedeatric endocrinologist on monday but i want to know if they can give me growth hormones?
i feel really bad that i havent grown in 5 or 4 years.. do growth hormones really make you grow more?
I just turned 21 years old. And im 5′8 and not happy with my height. My father is 5′11 and my mother is 5′10 and i feel like i might have some kind of Growth hormone deficiency. Ive read that in some cases boys can grow until they are 23. And ive heard a few friends tell me that they grew 3 inches after the age of 21. I know its a rare chance. Im trying to find a doctor todo a Bone Age Study in my local area. I just moved to Arizona so i dont have a General Physician yet. So ive been looking on the web for a doctor that can do this kind of test. Ive called over 15 Offices trying to find a doctor that can do it. Almost every office i call does not even know what a Bone Age Test is. Even though the internet makes it seem like a common thing.
My question is if anybody knows what kind of doctor i need to find? Or any advice on this problem?
Also ive read that meeting with a endocrinologist would be a good choice as well. Can a endocrinologist do a bone age test as well while they check for GH?
Today I went to the endocrinologist basically because I am concerned about my height. I am 16 yrs old, 5′6" 145 lbs, dad is 5′9" mom is 5′2". I have gone through puberty. Today when i went to the doctor i had to get blood drawn (too check my thyroid and see what hormone deficiency’s i have, if I even have any) and also I got an x-ray on my wrist. He never really said I am done growing, but he told me about the growth hormones and said he could give them to me if my growth plates weren’t closed. Unfortunately I won’t be getting a call from him in 3 weeks to get all of the results, I am just anxious and not totally sure if i should use the Growth Hormones. without knowing my results, and knowing my age and how tall I am now, Is there a chance I can still grow a couple more inches?
I tried to look up on this myself but to be honest it was confusing.
First let me describe her. She is three, weighs 23 pounds even and is short. Her exact height I forget.
I started to get worried when she had grown only three inches in the last year and gained about half a pound in a year. I took her to the pediatrician and she started running blood tests. They all turned out alright except she was not putting out enough growth hormone and her immune system was low. The doctor seemed worried about the low immune system. She listed off three initials and said that the immune system was tested in three major parts. One of them was really low but she said she would look in on that farther on after the Endocrinologist has seen her.
She was referred to an endocrinologist and she might be put on growth hormones. The thing is I don’t know too much about it. Please, I am really worried. Do you know anything about the growth hormones, or about what the low immune system might mean? The doctor seemed truly worried but she told me that she wasn’t.
Thanks in advance guys!
I’m 18, 108 pounds, 5′4, and male and in college. Ever since the 9th grade I have not grown outward/upward anywhere. My face has stayed the same…hence I still look like I’m 13-14 MAX. Clothes still fit (don’t wear them anymore, just wanted to know). All the males on both sides of my family are at least 5′10 and hefty. I’ll admit I don’t like my height but that doesn’t bug me as much as how young I look. I’m sick of it. I really don’t think I’ll ever look older. I mean I haven’t changed A BIT since the 9th grade. I can’t emphasize that anymore. I’ve never really had a appetite.
It can’t be normal to look this young. I mean my pastor tried to high five me the other day…
I have pubic hair/a little facial hair. So I don’t think I am a late bloomer. Unless hair can come anyway…I want to go see an endocrinologist but you have to get your doctor to recommend one I believe. I don’t think he will because he did blood tests and said everything was normal…But he didn’t even check for hgh deficiency.
Anyways, whoever made it through the wall of text, any opinions?

I was born with significant HGH deficiency and took HGH until I was about 11 years old. I was instructed by my endocrinologist to take it for longer than I did but I was stupid at the time and didn’t feel like dealing with the injections.
I will go to the endocrinologist later this year to explore this issue further, but I’d like a bit of information before then.
If someone is born HGH deficient, does that mean that the person should continue with injections throughout life? What effects can HGH deficiency have on the body once a child has stopped growing? I’m currently 19 and wonder whether it would benefit me at all to start taking it again (at my doctor’s instruction, of course).
I was born with a condition that HGH deficiency is associated with so I would assume the deficiency would persist throughout my life.
I understand that consultation with my doctor as well as further blood analysis will be necessary to answer anything definitely. Please interpret my question as generally as possible to make it easier to answer or draw conclusions. Thank you.
I am female.
I’m not concerned about cosmetic benefits- I’ve just heard bits and pieces of information which has led me to believe that there may be a biological disadvantage to such deficiency later in life.
